AP, NPR, and Reuters. Day 1.

Day 1 of our RIT photojournalism trip to D.C. was busy. We started off at the AP- D.C. bureau and met with J. David Ake. He gave us tips about freelancing, navigating the business, and being persistent. Our second stop was NPR. We met with Emily Bogle and Nikki Walker, both RIT alums. I was blown away at the amount of video content they produce. They have 15 videographers on staff, churning out videos daily. It’s really exciting to see organizations focusing on video and utilizing that to gain a more diverse audience, which is what NPR is doing. Our last stop of the day was Reuters. It was awesome to see all of the White House content that they push out on the wire daily. The key point I took away from them was to be consistently engaged and inspired by the photojournalism industry, and always be looking at photographs. Today was long, but informative. Can’t wait for tomorrow...
